SF Botanical Garden

The San Francisco Botanical Garden, located within Golden Gate Park, has a rich legacy with the San Francisco Garden Club. In the club’s infancy, it established the John Muir Nature Trail and one of its early presidents underwrote the Zellerbach Garden. Other members also contributed to additional locations throughout the Garden.
The San Francisco Botanical Garden is home to the Club’s Alice Eastwood Garden, a place of respite and relaxation. The Club often takes advantage of the garden for receptions and get-togethers. In 2017, a lovely summer reception was held under the trees and the club was enlightened with pending new plans for SFBG by its Director, Matthew Stephens.
Many club members are active and involved with the Botanical Garden, performing tasks ranging from board membership to volunteer gardener. A hearty crew meets quarterly on the first Saturday of March, June, September and December from 9 am up to noon to help prune and weed. Note: The morning is canceled if it is raining.
Each year a group of members of the club participate in the Botanical Garden’s annual fundraiser, The Garden Feast. The tented luncheon, held on Garden grounds, is a chance to enjoy great food and conversation as well as observe presentations linked to what’s happening at the San Francisco Botanical Garden.
Volunteer Information: If you are interested in volunteering with other SFGC members, please contact the Club with your interest.
