A Celebration at the Dahlia Dell

A Celebration at the Dahlia Dell, sponsored by the Dahlia Society of California. All are welcome and there is no charge to attend.

In mid-July of 2026 the maiden bloom of “Eden SF Garden Club BA-OR” emerged — a dahlia newly hybridized by the SF Dahlia Society, honoring the SF Garden Club in celebration of its centennial (1926–2026) year. It is symmetrically poised in the hybrid section of the SF Dahlia Dell in Golden Gate Park. This pom pom beauty will be formally introduced at the September meeting of the Garden Club.

This is also the centennial year of the dahlia in San Francisco — the dahlia is designated as the official flower of the city. The San Francisco chapter of the Dahlia Society of California is the first California chapter of the American Dahlia Society, established in 1917.

The SF Garden Club and the SF Dahlia Society join in a shared centennial celebration of cultivation, care taking, community and artistry in enhancing the beauty of the city for all. The newly propagated and named flower symbolizes the ongoing partnership and spirit of collaboration between the organizations.
